Jan Vredeman de Vries (1527-1606), Dutch designer, architect, and painter, was active in the southern Netherlands.
Vredeman de Vries’s most well-known work is his two-part “Perspective,” first published by Hondius in The Hague in 1604 and 1605 and frequently reprinted over the next twenty years. This work is a synthesis of his knowledge of perspective in seventy-four engravings.
