Claude Perrault was a French physician and amateur architect. He is known for his design collaboration with Louis La Vaux and Charles Le Brun of the east façade of the Musee de Louvre. He also became known for his translation into French of the ten books of architecture by Vitruvius in 1673. The treatise on the Five Classical Orders followed a decade later in 1683.
