George Rimplers Maximen eingerichteten Manier. Augsburg, Jeremia Wolffens, printed by Peter Detleffsen, 1718. Folio.

Comparison of French, Dutch and German methods of designing building, town and city fortifications. The French method is represented by the work of Sébastien Le Prestre, Seigneur de Vauban (1633-1707), the Dutch by Menno, Baron van Coehoorn (1634-1704) and the German by the author (based on the designs of Georg Rimpler), concluding with Sturm's inevitable preference of his own style, including discussion of residences, storehouses, markets and other provisions within the fortifications showing elevations and plans. Augspurg, Germany, 1718.

Leonhard Christoph Sturm (1669-1719), "the foremost German architectural theorist of the early 18th century". Sturm concludes that the German system of fortification is better than the French and Dutch.
